NOW ON I-TUNES! --FOR REAL RACIN USA -- FOR INSIDE FLORIDA RACING - DIRT WORLD

From the monthly archives:

December 2006

by STA Staff

The 2006 racing season has come to a close, with a few events as part of the PRI trade show extravaganza in Florida being the only shows left until 2007.

We got together the other day and talked about the events of 2006 for Florida race fans, since we do live in Florida, you Florida fans are foremost in our minds much of the year. After bouncing around a few ideas and laughing about some of the amateurish surveys we have seen in the past and even those being done by some newbies today and came up with a little bit different approach.

The 2006 fan survey for Florida race fans is online at this link: 2006 FAN SURVEY! (Link is no longer active)

We at Short Track America want you to tell us what are the most important events that shaped the year and also vote for the top driver for both dirt and asphalt. It is a bit presumptive of us to choose the events for you, but we had to start somewhere, and so we chose nine events that we felt impacted Florida racing and left room for you to not only pick one of those but to add your own as well. Then you choose the top asphalt driver and dirt track driver of the year.

Be sure and read all the instructions, you can vote for more than one event and more than one driver.

Have fun with it, and if you get time let us know how we can better serve you in 2007 by adding your comments to this posting..

THE GREEN MAMBA

By now most motorsports fans have heard the terrible story of the Green Mamba Jet Car being stolen and stripped for parts in the Tampa Bay area.

The story was detailed on most major media including CNN, MSNBC and FOX News, and of course all the major newspapers in Florida covered the crime.

We were contacted by interested parties this week and have agreed to help out with the project to bring back the Green Mamba in all its glory. Ted Kempgens is going to be the major re-builder with creator and owner Doug Rose.

NOTE: A NEW WEB SITE HAS BEEN CREATED TO HELP: SAVETHEMAMBA.ORG
Keith Morelli of the Tampa Tribune described it this way:
“A California race car driver in the 1960s, Rose lost his legs in a 1966 racing crash. “I took on a guardrail, and the guardrail won,” he said.
