Default Auburndale Speedway Race Preview for 11/25/17

After what has been a long and frustrating season, weather wise, Auburndale Speedway closes out the 2017 regular racing calendar this Saturday night. The evening will feature the grand finale for the Sunshine State Challenge Series Super Late Models, the Gobbler 150 presented by WPCV-97 Country Radio and Coca-Cola. After a few days of predicted wet weather, Saturday is expected to be sunny, dry and pleasant.

Also racing on this night will be the SSCS Legend Cars, SSCS V-8 Bombers (both SSCS point races), Q Mini Stocks, Scramblers and Mini-Cup cars.

Along with the racing, the track will be having a Kids Club make-up from the numerous rain outs that have taken place this Fall. There will be a bounce house and all kinds of neat activities for kids aged 5-12. Modified Mini Stock driver Rachelle Rudolph and her mom will be hosting the kids. Rachelle will have her Mod Mini there for the kids to get an up close look at. Parents - if you have kids 5-12 years old, bring them early at 5 pm so they can enjoy the Kids Club.

Bradenton's Jesse Dutilly has a comfy 41 point edge over Naples Driver Michael Atwell in the SSCS Super Late Model point standings with just this race and one at 417 Southern Speedway on December 9th to go. Atwell has a 23 point edge on third place Anthony Sergi of Oviedo while Sergi is just two markers ahead of fourth place Nick Neri of Palmetto while Neri is up by 42 points over fifth place Dylan Bigley of Naples.

All five are expected to be in action along with the likes of Auburndale drivers Chris Fontaine and Matt McCrary, George Gorham, Jr. of Winter Haven, Billy Bigley, Jr. of Naples, Ft. Pierce driver David Green, Brian Dorer of Lakeland, Oviedo's Michael Goddard and Brandon Thomson of Seminole is a possible entry.

Pits open Saturday afternoon at 1 pm with a practice session for just the SSCS Super Late Models slated from 3-3:30 pm. All other classes have practice from 3:30-4:30 pm followed by another Super Late Model-only hot lap/tire scuff session from 5-5:30 pm. Grandstand gates open at 5 pm with Legend Car and V-8 Bomber qualifying slated for 6 pm.

Racing begins at 7 pm and will be features-only starting with the 30-lap run for the SSCS V-8 Bombers. The SSCS Super Late Models will then hold their qualifying session before the Mini Cup cars duke it out for 25 laps and the Q Mini Stocks race for 25 circuits of the speedway.

Time and weather permitting, the SSCS Super Late Model drivers will be on track for an autograph session during intermission before they buckle up and go racing in the WPCV Country/Coca Cola Gobbler 150. Once the big Super Late race has ended, the SSCS Legend Cars take to the track for 25 laps before the Scramblers round out the night of action with their 25-lap feature.

Adult admission for this great evening of action is just $15 with seniors 55+ $13. Children ages 5-12 are only $5 and all kids 4 and under get in free. The family 4-pack is just $32 for two adult and two children’s admissions (a $40 value). Pit passes are $30 per person and all parking is free.
