      last report this evening...

today was a nice day for Jack. i just called and his daughter said Jack was comfortable and even ate some shepherds pie. Rick Bristol came over and prayed with Jack and they had a nice visit. Scot McAllister also came to visit. Rex Hollinger and his wife were vacationing in Sarasota so it was an ideal time for them to meet with their friend Jack... ;-) so im off to sleep. maybe this time i will make it. Thank you all for your calls etc. i relay them all to Jack.
      Much love and God bless...

        7/28/11

just called and was talking to Alisa. Jack told her to give him the phone and we talked. actually we giggled... lol i am so amazed at how alert Jack is. he had a good night and they gave him some meds this morning for some pain he felt. no more pain thank God. so please. if you are a friend of Jacks and are able, go visit. he will know you and he will be happy... and you will leave knowing Jack is in good hands and happy to see you.
i will miss jack so much i can barely stand thinking about it. hurts so much but i am grateful for all the years we did get to spend with each other promoting this sport. sometimes it hurts me when people talk mean but when we all pull together in emergencies i cant think of more wonderful loving people...
        God bless.

              Tonights report. ;-)

i sat with Jack from about 3 til 9:30... we had a great time. Don Rehm, Bob Culbertson, Rick Anges and Jacks friend Mick and his wife and daughters were there. Jack had turkey pie, corn, sherbet and 2 cups of coffee!!!!!! was so happy to see him eating. he hadnt eaten in days!
Jack is pain free because of the meds so he is VERY talkative and remembers everything since the model T.
Dont be afraid to stop by. he is a joy... the place is really nice. he will love your visit. so thats it for tonight.
              love to all of you...

                        I wish

I had met Jack, but obviously he is a great men. He is very lucky to have all the friends he has, and loving family too. We never understand why God lets some people suffer sometimes, but I know it has nothing to do with how we have lived our lives. As Jane and Carol have said, god has a plan, for Jack and all of us, and it will last forever. Rest in peace Jack, and all his friends amd family also.

Like you Carol, I have never blamed God for all the bad things in my life. He gave me two children who needed help, who needed God to watch over them and help heal them the best he could, and he did. God did not circle out Jack and say he had to get sick just like he did not circle out P.J. Wiggins, B.J. Calvin, Homer Gordon, Pete Orr, and on and on. But it was God's decision that he wanted our friends and loved ones with him and I know in my heart that they are happy and without pain and that we will all see them again someday.

Please tell Cathy that God did not do this but God will take care of Jack and she will see him again. God never gives us more than we can handle although at times we do question that but I do believe it. I know this is hard for Cathy because she has been thru this before and never once did she ever think that she would have to go thru it again but God believes that she is strong enough to do it. Please tell Cathy that she is in my prayers and that no matter what, she has a friend here in Merritt Island that is always here for her no matter what.

Years ago I almost lost my daughter and I asked the same question. But I was lucky and God gave me some wonderful doctors who were able to save her and now she is grown with two children of her own. And God chose to take my son, who was born in my hands at a doctor's office. They just didn't have what they do now to save a 6 month baby but God gave me a gift in seeing my son, holding my son, and being there when he went to join him in heaven.

I know there are people on this board who do not believe in God and more in karma or something but I do believe and I know you do too. And I know that God will take Jack to a better place but he has also given us hearts and we never lose the ones we love as long as we hold them in our hearts and Jack will be there for many.

I know it is not easy Cathy but stay strong and God will get you and the girls thru this. My heart, prayers, and thoughts are with you all and if you need anything, day or night, you can call me.

                            Always, Jane

I have to admit that I am sort of like the guy who survives the horrific airliner crash where everyone else was killed and wonders why he was spared while everyone else died. Why am I winning my fight while others, especially a 35 year old guy with most of his life still in front of him, is taken from his friends and family? Sorry, but I suppose the only one who has the answers is God, and so far he's not giving any hints so that the rest of us (including me) can figure it out. Maybe its stupid for me to feel this way, but that's how it is.

Actually, theres no way to figure these things out. If you believe the Bible, and I'm not thumping the Bible, but if you believe it we ALL are getting better than we deserve, hard to figure but thats what it says. Why does the murderer fall asleep peacefully in his sleep sometimes and a person that seems to do good all his life suffer? I don't know.
