Melanie Troxel Wins O’Reilly Midwest Nationals Third NHRA Victory
|
Melanie Troxel drove her Forrest Lucas-owned Vietnam Veterans MIA/POW sponsored Top Fuel dragster to score her third win of her illustrious drag racing career at the 11th annual O’Reilly Midwest Nationals at Gateway International Raceway in nearby St. Louis defeating Cory McClenathan in the final round.
This marked her 13th final round appearance where the Torco Race Fuels-sponsored driver had previously recorded wins at the 2006 Winternationals in Pomona, Ca. and in the Summitracing Nationals in Las Vegas before adding St. Louis to her impressive list marking her second time (Phoenix) in 2007 of advancing to the finals.
On her run to the St. Louis victory she defeated Luigi Novelli, Bruce Litton, two-time POWERade champion, Larry Dixon and Cory McClenathan in taking her four win lights on Sunday.
The Avon, Indiana resident qualified in the No. 11 position in the competitive 16-car line up with a time of 4.693 seconds, 311.41 mph.
